Sustainable Development Guide
Section 6: Assessment Tools
1. BOB In-Stream Monitoring Protocol
[what does BOB stand for?]
This protocol outlines procedures for sampling chemical and biological agents in streams. It outlines the tools needed, locations to be sampled, procedures, and methods of analysis. [Link to PDF]
2. Low-Impact Feasibility Evaluation
Selection of best available practices for site conditions is very important in developing a sustainable, hydrologically functional landscape. CH2M-HILL has developed an interactive tool called LIFE, or Low Impact Feasibility Evaluation. It is designed to meet storm-water management, watershed-protection, and quality-of-life objectives. (Avinash S. Patwardhan, CH2M-Hill)
(Need reference info on where to find.)
The model calculates storm-water runoff and pollutant loadings from buildings, roadways, and landscaping under various land uses and soil types. It optimizes the balance between economic growth and watershed protection, identifies appropriate, site-specific BMPs, and evaluates the effects of volume-based, peak flow, and water quality controls.
