TVA named one of the top 10 utilities for economic development for the eighth straight year.

For the eighth straight year, TVA has been named to Site Selection magazine’s list of the top 10 utilities in North America for economic development.

Site Selection recognizes TVA’s work in fiscal year 2012 with local power companies and regional, state and community partners to help attract or retain more than 48,000 jobs and leverage $5.9 billion in capital investment for the seven-state TVA service territory.

“It is an honor to receive Site Selection’s prestigious award which recognizes our Valley Economic Development team’s dedication and high performance to make the TVA region a better and more prosperous place to live and work,” said John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of Economic Development.  “TVA is a partner with local power companies, regional and state agencies, and economic, industrial and community leaders to develop programs that improve the quality of life in the Valley, specifically through jobs and capital investment.”

The Site Selection rankings are based on a number of factors, including project activity in the Conway Data New Plant database, website tools and data, innovative programs and incentives for business, and the utility’s own job-creating infrastructure and facility investment trends.

“This year’s Top Utilities know how to help companies, projects and communities hit growth milestones,” says Adam Bruns, managing editor of Site Selection. “And they all know it takes a lot more than special rates to get there.”

“Utilities play a key role as participants in the economic development efforts of cities, regions and all areas working to improve their business climate,” says Mark Arend, editor in chief of Site Selection. “This year’s Top Utilities were particularly successful in this endeavor in 2012.”
