BorgWarner will expand Mississippi operations

Nov. 3, 2011 - BorgWarner, a global power-train supplier, has announced plans to expand its Water Valley, Miss., operations. The expansion, BorgWarner’s second in the past year in Water Valley, is a multimillion-dollar investment that will create 67 new jobs.

The latest move will bring the local BorgWarner workforce to more than 450 people. An expansion of operations at the site in 2010 created 120 new jobs.

“This is exciting news for Water Valley and Yalobusha County,” said Leland Speed, the Mississippi Development Authority's executive director. “Just one short year ago, BorgWarner expanded its operations and created a significant number of new jobs for the area’s workforce. Now, the company is expanding yet again, investing further in the state and creating even more jobs.

“This is remarkable, particularly given the current economy," he added, "and I am grateful to the company for its continued investment in our state and in our workforce.”

The expansion is required to fulfill a contract between BorgWarner and a U.S. automaker for a new generation of transmission control solenoids. Additional equipment will be installed and a new clean room constructed at the Water Valley site. BorgWarner, a technology leader in highly engineered components and systems for power-train applications, operates facilities in 59 locations in 19 countries.
