Addition of two sites brings data center-ready locations to 20

Dec. 14, 2011 – Two sites in Warren County, Tennessee, have been added to the inventory of locations identified as prime candidates for data center development in the Tennessee Valley.

The addition of the 47-acre McMinnville–Warren County Digital Site and the 34-acre McMinnville-Warren County Technical Site sites brings TVA’s list of highly favorable data center sites to 20. The McMinnville-Warren County Industrial Development Board submitted the sites as part of TVA’s data center assessment program.

This is the first time that two sites have been named in a community. Sites qualify based on a number of characteristics, including:

• Accessibility and physical characteristics

• Strong telecommunications infrastructure

• Availability of reliable, competitively priced electric power.

Deloitte Consulting of Chicago has evaluated 50 potential sites for TVA’s target industry recruitment program. The development and marketing process is modeled after the Megasites program, which TVA has successfully used to recruit major billion-dollar companies to the Valley.

“This ready-for-development primary designation of our two sites gives McMinnville and Warren County a double competitive edge in recruitment when the next data center company is looking for an ideal site,” said Jeff McCormick, Director of the McMinnville-Warren County Industrial Development Board. “We appreciate the support of TVA, Deloitte, McMinnville Electric System and Ben Lomand Connect in this valuable process.”

TVA partners with local power companies like McMinnville Electric System and regional, state and community leaders to actively market these sites as part of its global target industry recruitment efforts.

“TVA’s economic development role is to help communities like McMinnville-Warren County be prepared for economic growth opportunities and to promote their strengths to data centers and other targeted companies ready to locate and grow in our service territory,” said John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of economic development.
