Remington Arms will enlarge Kentucky plant
May 13, 2010 – Remington Arms, one of the largest producers of shotguns and rifles in the U.S., has announced it will add 33,000 square feet to its Mayfield, Ky., plant.
The expansion will involve an investment of $5 million over the next three years and add 100 jobs to the current workdorce of 91.
Founded in 1816, Remington is one of the nation's oldest continuously operating manufacturers of firearms. It has several manufacturing plants in the U.S. and is expanding its current 44,000-square-foot Mayfield plant to relocate certain rifle production lines from Connecticut.
The partners on the project included West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation, Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, Graves County Fiscal Court, City of Mayfield, Graves Growth Alliance and TVA.
