Auto supplier A.P. Plasman to build Alabama plant

April 26, 2010 – Canadian automotive supplier A.P. Plasman, headquartered in Windsor, Ont., will built a new plant in Fort Payne, Ala., to produce automotive exterior trim.

Plasman supplies exterior parts such as front grills, trunk skins and moldings for global automotive manufacturers including Honda, Nissan, General Motors, BMW and Toyota. The company was a GM supplier of the year in 2009.

Plasman president and CEO Dave Wiskel said company leaders chose Fort Payne because of the assistance given by economic and civic leaders and the "red carpet treatment" they were shown while scouting the city. The Fort Payne plant will be the company's flagship plant, he said, allowing it to increase service to its clients.

TVA was pleased to be part of the economic development team that provided resources and assistance in Plasman's location decision. Other partners in the project included the Fort Payne Improvement Authority, Alabama Development Office, North Alabama Industrial Development Association, and DeKalb County Economic Development Association.
