Modine's Tennessee expansion to create 200 jobs
March 17, 2010 – Modine Manufacturing has announced it will expand its manufacturing operations in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. It expects to create 200 new jobs over three years if current market conditions remain the same.
The Lawrenceburg plant, which currently employs 180 people, has been manufacturing cooling equipment for commercial vehicles since it opened in 1979. The expansion will allow it to make radiators for off-highway vehicles. The move is part of Modine's strategy of realigning its global footprint for greater efficiency and economies of scale.
The new production line will be housed in 210,000 square feet of space in the North Murray Building, which has previously been used for warehousing. Production is expected to begin in late summer 2010.
The expansion is the largest job creation project in Lawrence County in a decade. Team members involved in the project included the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Lawrenceburg Utility Systems, the city and county governments and Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Career Center, Gobble Properties (Southeast Carriers), and TVA.
