Amneal Pharmaceuticals expands in Kentucky

May 13, 2010 – Amneal Pharmaceuticals LLC, which develops, manufactures and distributes generic drugs, has announced that it will expand its operation in Glasgow, Kentucky.

The company will invest over $6.6 million in the expansion and add 48 new jobs to the existing 35 in Glasgow.

Founded in 2002, Amneal is the 10th-largest U.S. generic supplier in number of prescriptions filled. The company will consolidate its distribution logistics and sales operations at a new 115,000-square-foot facility, combining operations from other locations in New York and Kentucky and enabling its rapid growth to continue.

"In addition to compelling economic incentives, we recognized that the superb quality and dedication of Glasgow's workforce is a key factor in Amneal's reputation for service excellence," said Jim Luce, Amneal's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "So the decision to stay and expand operations in Kentucky was an easy one."

Partners on the project included the Glasgow Electric Plant Board, Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, Barren County Fiscal Court, City of Glasgow and TVA.
