Tennessee honored for clean energy job creation

June 16, 2009 – The Pew Charitable Trusts has ranked Tennessee among the strongest states in the nation in the creation of clean energy jobs. Pew released a report in early June stating that jobs in the state's emerging clean energy economy grew more than seven times faster than overall jobs between 1998 and 2007.

Since the report was completed, Tennessee has added two major solar industries with over $3 billion in investments. “Expanding our focus on energy efficiency, renewable power production and other clean energy activities is helping jump-start our state's economy, and it happens to be the right thing to do for the environment," said Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen. "I'm proud that the Volunteer State is leading the way in growing the clean energy economy.”
