Two Tennessee deals are in Site Selection's top 10
May 8, 2009 – Two large economic development projects in Tennessee are among the top 10 deals in North America for 2008 according to a ranking by Site Selection magazine.
Both projects involve TVA Megasites. Volkswagen of America chose the Enterprise South Megasite in Chattanooga for its $1 billion assembly plant, where it will build cars designed for the American market.
Hemlock Semiconductor, which is 63 percent owned by Dow Corning, will build a $1.2 billion plant at the Commerce Park Megasite in Clarksville. Hemlock supplies about a third of all silicon used in solar panels and electronic devices worldwide, according to the magazine.
Site Selection chooses its top 10 based on capital investment, high-value jobs, creativity of negotiations and incentives, regional economic impact, competition for the project, and speed to market.
