Verizon will build new Tennessee headquarters
Aug. 21, 2007 — Verizon Wireless, the nation’s leading provider of wireless communications, announced today that it is building a 180,000-square-foot facility to be the company’s regional headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee.
This facility will house 550 of the company’s 2,000 current Nashville-area employees, and approximately 600 to 700 new jobs will be filled in the next few years. It is anticipated that the company will eventually employ over 1,300 people, with an investment of $54 million.
“This announcement shows that innovative, technology-focused companies are finding a welcoming business climate in Tennessee,” said Governor Phil Bredesen.
In addition to the State of Tennessee, partners on the project include the Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Williamson County Office of Economic Development, City of Franklin, and TVA.
