Topre America to expand Alabama plant
Aug. 21, 2007 — Topre America Corporation has announced a $34 million expansion of its automotive stamping plant in Cullman, Alabama. It's the company's third expansion since locating in Cullman in 2004 and is expected to produce 150 new jobs.
Topre will support the new Toyota plant being built in Tupelo, Miss. It's the first supplier named for the plant. The company also makes auto parts for Honda and for Nissan, which named Topre one of its three top suppliers out of 490 nationwide in 2006.
The current Topre plant and warehouse will be enlarged by over 108,000 square feet. Production of new parts for Toyota will begin in March 2009, and employment that year is expected to climb to 600.
Partners in the project included the Cullman Electric Cooperative, Cullman Economic Development Agency, Alabama Development Office, and North Alabama Industrial Development Association.
