Homax to expand Tennessee facility

February 8, 2007 — Homax, a leader in professional home improvement products for contractors and do-it-yourselfers, has announced an expansion of its manufacturing facility in Ashland City, Tennessee. The company is headquartered in Bellingham, Washington.

Homax will consolidate most of its manufacturing operations in Ashland, adding 55 full-time and 85 part-time jobs to the 80 current positions at the plant. The company's brands include East Touch Drywall Spray Textures, Rhodes American Steel Wool, Goo Gone, and others.

In 2004, Homax acquired Bix Manufacturing, which made paint strippers and specialty cleaning products. The company expects continued growth over the next few years, according to Bill Judge, vice president of operations. "Our company is very pleased with the labor base and quality of workers coming out of Cheatham County and the Nashville area," he said.

TVA worked with the project team, which included the State of Tennessee, Cheatham County Joint Economic Partnership, and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, to secure the expansion. TVA and Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation partnered to provide technical and engineering services.
