Hillsman Modular Molding moves to Tennessee

February 8, 2007 — Hillsman Modular Molding of Titusville, Florida, is moving its operations to Sparta, Tennessee. The company produces small injection molding plastic parts.

Rodney Hillsman, company president, and four siblings own the company founded by their parents. He cited lower costs for electric power and property insurance, central location, and absence of a state income tax as factors in Tennessee's favor.

The company expects to employ 60 to 70 workers. Hillsman said he received over 700 applications for positions in Sparta and he was pleased with "the amount of labor and the quality of experience" of the applicants.

TVA Economic Development staff and Sparta Electric & Water System worked with the State of Tennessee and Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce on the project.
