TVAsites.com is finalist in international competition
TVAsites.com has been named a finalist in the economic development category of the Stockholm Challenge, an international competition that recognizes innovation in information technology. The Stockholm Challenge is the “Nobel Prize” for information technology used in the service of society, and a nomination for the prestigious prize is an honor in itself.
The 2006 Challenge focuses on projects that use information technology to empower people, improve living conditions, and increase economic growth. The Challenge jury selected 151 finalists out of 1,165 applicants from around the world. Asia had the highest number of finalists with 43; North America had 21. TVA was the only U.S. finalist in the economic development category. Awards are also given in the categories of education, environment, public administration, culture, and health.
The final awards will be presented in Stockholm on May 11 as part of a three-day conference in which nominees gather to network and share strategies for success.
The prize is sponsored by a consortium consisting of the City of Stockholm, the Royal Institute of Technology, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and Ericsson, a Swedish telecommunications supplier. See Stockholm Challenge for more information on the awards.
TVAsites.com was previously recognized as a finalist for a CoreNet Global Leadership and Innovation Award.
