TVA leaders, ED staff win recognition

Southern Business & Development magazine recently recognized TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley and his staff, as well as TVA Director Bill Baxter, for their work in economic development.

The Winter 2006 issue of the magazine cites Bradley for his efforts in making TVA’s ED group “an economic-development leader in the South” and names him one of the “Top 10 People Who Made a Difference.”

In the same article, Baxter is praised as being “one of the South’s most impressive economic developers.”

The magazine’s publisher and editor, Mike Randle, also offers praise for TVA’s ED staff. “While Bradley is being named as one of the 10 people who made a difference this year, we could easily have given the recognition to the entire TVA economic-development department,” he says. Randle calls TVA the largest economic-development entity in the South.

Others named in the magazine’s Top 10 People list include Carlos Ghosn, president & chief executive officer of Nissan; Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco (selected jointly in recognition of their challenges/accomplishments following Hurricane Katrina); California-based developer and entrepreneur David Murdock; West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin III; Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher; Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt; North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley; Louisiana Commerce Secretary Mike Olivier; and Fred Humes, director of the Economic Development Partnership in Aiken, S.C.

Southern Business & Development’s target audience includes site-selection consultants and company CEOs. Its circulation is about 20,000, and it reports 40,000 visitors per month to its web sites. Read SB&D's Ten People Who Made a Difference.
