TVA wins IEDC awards for marketing tools
September 21, 2006 — TVA has earned awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for excellence in the design, execution, and effectiveness of three of its marketing tools.
TVA received top honors in three different categories:
- General Purpose Web Site, for this web site, TVAed.com
- Special Purpose Web Site, for TVAsites.com
- Newspaper/Newsletter/Magazine, for the “TVA Economic Development Report Card.”
The awards were presented during the annual IEDC conference on September 19.
In making the awards, Joseph A. Marinucci, IEDC chairman, cited TVA for meeting the demanding and challenging pace of today’s high-pressure, quick-response economic development activities by creating informational products that offer detailed information, fast, in order to grab the attention of site selectors and corporate executives.
He also lauded TVA for empowering smaller communities by providing access through its web sites to important economic development tools that are often available only to larger urban areas.
As a public power provider, TVA is accountable to the public it serves for its performance, and the quarterly “Report Card” gives evidence of the vibrant health of the regional economy and TVA’s role in it.
Marinucci noted that economic development projects both large and small are enormously imporant in shoring up the nation’s economy. “As our population grows and as we continue to overcome unexpected challenges, such as those we are still grappling with in the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast region, these efforts take on an even greater significance,” he said. “The award serves as a most respectful ‘hats off’ to economic development organizations like the Tennessee Valley Authority for leading the charge.”
The IEDC is the world’s largest membership organization serving the economic development profession.
