D&B Specialty Foods opens new facility in Johnson City, Tennessee
May 18, 2006 – D&B Specialty Foods USA, Inc., has chosen Johnson City, Tennessee, as the site for its new food processing facility. Johnson City won out over six other competing cities and was chosen for its convenient location, quality of life, and workforce.
“It's a prime logistical location that wil enable us to fill orders faster, and the people are great here,” said Elizabeth Sendel, vice president of D&B USA. The company opened its 20,000-square-foot processing facility with the help of Washington County mayor George Jaynes and Johnson City mayor Stephen Darden.
Sendel also announced at the opening that D&B will expand the facility to 50,000 square feet, with an investment of approximately $6 million. The company will hire 125 workers over the next six months and should employ over 300 at maximum capacity.
“D&B is committed to contributing to a community, mentoring and training associates, and believes that Johnson City is the best place to build a future,” Sendel said. “We look forward to continuing to work with the mayors’ team.”
D&B Specialty Foods is a woman-owned business that manufactures Chef 5 Minute Meals, self-heating meals with no preservatives that can be stored on the shelf for up to five years. The meals are designed for life on the go as well as emergency preparedness.
