Aisin recruitment effort wins national attention

October 2, 2005 — The collaborative effort involving the State of Tennessee, TVA, and the cities of Clinton and Oak Ridge to recruit Aisin Automotive Casting Tennessee was highlighted in the June 2005 issue of Area Development magazine. The article – titled “Deal-Maker or Deal Breaker?” – showcased 43 successful new facility expansion projects from across the nation.

Aisin Automotive Casting Tennessee, a Japanese auto parts manufacturer, announced last year that it would locate a 280,000-square-foot plant in the Clinton-Interstate 75 Industrial Park, creating over 400 jobs in Clinton by 2007. Of the 43 state initiatives included in the listing, Aisin was one of only five automotive-related projects.

In a release issued by the State of Tennessee’s Economic and Community Development office, Commissioner Matthew Kisber said the project’s inclusion in the Area Development story provided the state with a national stage to highlight not only its partnership approach to economic development, but also the other significant attributes of the state’s business climate for companies looking to relocate or expand.

Area Development is a leading magazine and information source for site and facility planning.
